The system has been purposely designed for veterinary applications with veterinary software, terminology and image orientation. The system provides a wide range of pre-programmed protocols that have been optimised for veterinary requirements. It also offers the possibility to create customised protocols, according to specific clinical needs.
The Vet-MR Grande is an affordable investment with low total operating costs. There is no need for expensive cryogens and the system can be easily installed into an existing facility. It uses open, permanent magnet technology meaning power consumption is very low and it can be run from a standard power outlet.
The Vet-MR Grande has a wide opening; ensuring animal handling is extremely easy, even for very large animals.
Patient positioning is made easier and quicker because of the real-time imaging tool located on the front of the magnet. It produces instant images and continuously visualises the area of interest. This allows the user to ensure the position of the patient is optimal before starting the scan.
Patient monitoring is very easy as the animal is accessible during the exam reducing any risk for the patient. The Vet MR Grande allows you to use your existing anaesthesia equipment.
The Vet-MR Grande includes a complete set of dedicated receiving coils tailored for the most typically scanned anatomical regions. The dedicated coils maximise the scanners imaging performance.
Esaote's quest to continuously improve performance and enhance image quality has resulted in the recent introduction of the new DPA spine coil specifically developed and designed to satisfy clinical needs when executing spine examinations on medium/large breed dogs. Better signal penetration in the inner region of the spine, extended coverage of the Field Of View (FOV) and easier animal positioning are just some of the benefits of using the DPA spine coil.

The optional eXP technological platform enhancement, adds sequences, allows faster scanning times and enhances image quality. If combined with the new optional DPA Thoracic coil even the most difficult cervicothoracic images are possible to obtain with speed and clarity.
The eXP package is a combination of hardware and software that improves the Vet-MR Grande system performance in acquisition speed and image quality. It comprises of a special GPU card for faster reconstruction and sophisticated imaging sequences like Speed-Up.
Advanced GPU based reconstruction.
The special GPU board included in the eXP package makes it possible to use a new and sophisticated multi-threading reconstruction algorithm for a faster overall system response. The combination of GPU hardware and EVO 17 software enable the implementation of the sophisticated 2D and 3D Speed-Up sequences.
2D and 3D Speed-Up technology.
Speed-UP is an advanced acquisition / reconstruction method (patent pending) that reduces the scan time of 2D and 3D pulse sequences up to 30%. Speed-Up applies sophisticated mathematics algorithms that take advantage of intrinsic K-space redundancy to properly manage the number of acquisition data and consequently to reduce the acquisition time.
Speed-Up can be applied to most of 2D and 3D pulse sequences used in daily practice except Half Fourier, Half Echo, TSE and TME
The operator manages the “Speed up” factor by simply selecting the appropriate value under “Special Parameter” in the sequence parameter menu.
Like always in MRI, time and quality are interchangeable so Speed-Up can also be used to improve image quality of the examination like e.g. higher resolution or thinner slices without compromising scan-time.
3D fully Isotropic.
The eXP platform combined with the latest Evo 17 software release enables the spine “Mylogram” sequence and the EVO 3D sequences. The EVO 3D allows the operator to obtain a large field of view combined with a small voxel size to give incredibly high-resolution images. The use of 3D-isotropic voxel can substantially reduce examination time. Starting from the isotropic acquisition, it is possible to reconstruct any subsequent scan plane with the same high quality using the multiplanar reconstruction “MPR” function thus avoiding additional acquisitions for the various scan planes. This new feature allows a significant reduction of the scan time needed for the brain protocol.
